What words are in the food word search?

Food puzzles gather herbs and spices (basil, thyme, saffron, cumin), baker’s staples (flour, yeast, sourdough), market fruit and everyday dishes such as risotto, broth and stew. Just ingredients and cooking words — no restaurant chains.

The full food word bank has 40 words. Each puzzle picks a set from this list, so no two grids are quite the same:

APRICOT · AVOCADO · BAGUETTE · BASIL · BERRY · BROTH · BUTTER · CHEESE · CITRUS · COCOA · COFFEE · CUMIN · FLOUR · GARLIC · GINGER · HERB · HONEY · KITCHEN · MANGO · MARKET · MUSHROOM · OLIVE · ONION · OREGANO · PASTA · PEACH · PEPPER · RISOTTO · ROSEMARY · SAFFRON · SALAD · SOUP · SOURDOUGH · SPICE · STEW · TEA · THYME · TOMATO · YEAST · YOGURT

Who is this theme good for?

A warm, familiar theme for home cooks and anyone who likes to plan the next meal while solving. It also pairs well with a mid-morning coffee break.

A solving tip

Short food words such as TEA or HERB hide inside longer ones. If a word seems to vanish, it may be overlapping another — check crossings where two words share a letter.

Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter.
