Music puzzles
What words are in the music word search?
Music puzzles use instruments (cello, oboe, clarinet, harp), musical forms (sonata, fugue, etude, lullaby) and concert-hall words such as rehearsal, baton and encore. No artist names or record labels.
The full music word bank has 40 words. Each puzzle picks a set from this list, so no two grids are quite the same:
AUDITORIUM · BALLAD · BATON · CELLO · CHOIR · CHORD · CLARINET · CONCERT · CONCERTO · CYMBAL · DRUM · ENCORE · ETUDE · FLUTE · FUGUE · GUITAR · HARMONY · HARP · LULLABY · MELODY · OBOE · OCTAVE · OPERA · ORGAN · PIANO · PRELUDE · QUARTET · REHEARSAL · RHYTHM · SCALE · SCORE · SHEET · SONATA · STAGE · SYMPHONY · TEMPO · TROMBONE · TRUMPET · VIOLA · VIOLIN
Who is this theme good for?
A natural fit for choir members, music teachers, lifelong listeners and anyone who learned an instrument years ago. Several words make a pleasant small vocabulary refresher.
A solving tip
Words like RHYTHM (when it appears) have almost no vowels, which makes them stand out once you know to look for “THM”. Try spotting unusual consonant clusters before scanning letter by letter.
How these puzzles work
Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter. Easy grids are 10×10 with words across and down; medium grids are 12×12 and add diagonals; hard grids are 15×15 with words in all eight directions. Press Large print above any grid for bigger letters. Progress is saved on your device, and there is never a timer. New to word searches? Read how to play.
