By Reggie J·Updated
Sports word search puzzles with a grown-up pace. These free online grids cover classic athletic vocabulary — courts, pitches, trails and quiet training mornings — without team logos or branded names. Choose easy, medium or hard difficulty and play at your own speed. Words can run across, down and, on harder grids, diagonally or backwards. There is no timer and nothing to download. A solid choice when you want a focused puzzle that feels familiar without the noise of live scores.

What words are in the sports word search?

Who is this theme good for?
A friendly pick for sports fans, retirement-community activity sessions and anyone who likes words they already know well. Familiar words make it a relaxing choice when you want an easy win.
A solving tip
Many sports words end in “-ING” (SWIMMING, CYCLING, ROWING, SAILING). Scan for the I-N-G cluster and work backwards to find the start of each word.
How these puzzles work
Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter. Easy grids are 10×10 with words across and down; medium grids are 12×12 and add diagonals; hard grids are 15×15 with words in all eight directions. Press Large print above any grid for bigger letters. Progress is saved on your device, and there is never a timer. New to word searches? Read how to play.
