What words are in the Christmas word search?
Our Christmas list is about the quiet parts of December: wreaths, carols, cocoa, candles, garlands, holly and ivy, icicles and the winter solstice. It avoids trademarked characters and keeps religious and secular words in a gentle balance.
The full Christmas word bank has 40 words. Each puzzle picks a set from this list, so no two grids are quite the same:
ADVENT · ANGEL · BELLS · BLANKET · CANDLE · CAROL · CHIMNEY · CHURCH · COCOA · EVERGREEN · FAMILY · FEAST · FIREPLACE · FROST · GARLAND · GATHER · GINGERBREAD · HOLLY · ICICLE · IVY · LIGHTS · MIDNIGHT · MISTLETOE · MUFFLER · NOEL · ORNAMENT · POINSETTIA · PRESENT · RIBBON · SLEIGH · SNOWFLAKE · SNOWMAN · SOLSTICE · STAR · STOCKING · TABLE · TINSEL · WINTER · WREATH · YULE
Who is this theme good for?
It works well for family afternoons, holiday activity sheets for adults, and calm evenings by the fire. Grids range from a 10×10 easy puzzle to a 15×15 hard puzzle where words can run backwards and diagonally upwards.
A solving tip
Several Christmas words contain double letters — HOLLY, BELLS and GINGERBREAD. Scan for “LL” and “EE” pairs first; they jump out of a grid quickly.
How these puzzles work
Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter. Easy grids are 10×10 with words across and down; medium grids are 12×12 and add diagonals; hard grids are 15×15 with words in all eight directions. Press Large print above any grid for bigger letters. Progress is saved on your device, and there is never a timer. New to word searches? Read how to play.
