By Reggie J·Updated
Space word search puzzles for adults who enjoy a quiet stretch among the stars. These free online grids draw on planets, constellations, telescopes and the slow vocabulary of astronomy — no sci-fi franchises, just real words of the night sky. Pick an easy puzzle for a warm-up, a medium grid with diagonals, or a hard puzzle with reverse words. Play in the browser with large print available, and take as long as you like. Ideal for a focused break when you want something absorbing without noise or timers.

What words are in the space word search?
Space puzzles use real astronomy vocabulary: the eight planets, nebulae, comets, quasars and pulsars, eclipses, equinoxes and constellations. There are no film or franchise names — just the sky as astronomers describe it.
The full space word bank has 40 words. Each puzzle picks a set from this list, so no two grids are quite the same:
ASTEROID · ASTRONOMY · AURORA · CLUSTER · COMET · CONSTELLATION · COSMOS · CRATER · ECLIPSE · EQUINOX · GALAXY · GRAVITY · HORIZON · JUPITER · LUNAR · MAGNETAR · MARS · MERCURY · METEOR · MILKYWAY · MOONLIGHT · NEBULA · NEPTUNE · ORBIT · PHOTON · PLANET · PULSAR · QUASAR · ROCKET · SATELLITE · SATURN · SOLAR · SOLSTICE · SPIRAL · STARLIGHT · TELESCOPE · URANUS · VENUS · VOID · ZENITH
Who is this theme good for?
Ideal for curious adults, stargazers and anyone who enjoys words with unusual letters. Longer words on the list such as CONSTELLATION, TELESCOPE and ASTRONOMY make the search feel satisfying.
A solving tip
Q and Z are rare in a grid, so QUASAR and ZENITH are quick wins whenever they appear. Look for the letter, then check all eight neighbours for the second letter of the word.
How these puzzles work
Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter. Easy grids are 10×10 with words across and down; medium grids are 12×12 and add diagonals; hard grids are 15×15 with words in all eight directions. Press Large print above any grid for bigger letters. Progress is saved on your device, and there is never a timer. New to word searches? Read how to play.
