Travel puzzles
What words are in the travel word search?
Travel puzzles draw on maps, trains, ferries, inns, markets, museums and postcards — the vocabulary of slow journeys rather than airports. No airline, hotel or booking brands.
The full travel word bank has 40 words. Each puzzle picks a set from this list, so no two grids are quite the same:
BACKPACK · BRIDGE · CABIN · CAFE · COAST · COMPASS · DESERT · FERRY · FOUNTAIN · GALLERY · GUIDE · HARBOR · HORIZON · HOSTEL · INN · ISLAND · ITINERARY · JOURNEY · LODGING · LUGGAGE · MAP · MARKET · MUSEUM · PASSPORT · PLATFORM · PLAZA · POSTCARD · ROUTE · SOUVENIR · STATION · SUITCASE · SUMMIT · SUNRISE · SUNSET · TICKET · TRAIL · TRAIN · VALLEY · VILLAGE · VOYAGE
Who is this theme good for?
A good theme for armchair travellers, retirees planning a trip and anyone who likes to daydream between words. The medium grid adds diagonals for a little extra wandering.
A solving tip
Longer travel words have patterns that stand out: the “OU” in SOUVENIR, the “SSP” in PASSPORT, the repeating I-T-I at the start of ITINERARY. Spot the pattern, then trace it in a straight line in both directions.
How these puzzles work
Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter. Easy grids are 10×10 with words across and down; medium grids are 12×12 and add diagonals; hard grids are 15×15 with words in all eight directions. Press Large print above any grid for bigger letters. Progress is saved on your device, and there is never a timer. New to word searches? Read how to play.
