Fall Word Search
By Reggie J·Updated
Fall word search puzzles for adults who like a quieter kind of autumn. These free online grids gather harvest words, cooler evenings, library stacks and leaf-strewn walks — no cartoon mascots, no countdown clocks. Choose an easy puzzle for a gentle warm-up, a medium grid with diagonals, or a hard puzzle where words can run backwards. Every list is written for grown-up puzzlers who want a few focused minutes with the season. Play in your browser with no download or sign-up, and come back as the nights draw in for more fall-themed word searches.

What words are in the fall word search?
The fall list leans into the slow texture of the season: acorns, maple, chestnuts, woodsmoke, haybales, footpaths and frost. Colour words such as amber, golden and rust sit beside months and walks, so the puzzle reads a little like a country diary.
The full fall word bank has 40 words. Each puzzle picks a set from this list, so no two grids are quite the same:
ACORN · AMBER · BASKET · BLANKET · BONFIRE · BREEZE · CHESTNUT · CHILL · CIDER · CORNFIELD · CORNMAZE · CRISP · FOLIAGE · FOOTPATH · FROST · GOLDEN · GOURD · HARVEST · HAYBALE · LANTERN · LEAVES · MAPLE · MIGRATING · MIGRATION · MUSHROOM · NOVEMBER · OCTOBER · ORCHARD · PATCH · PORCH · PUMPKIN · RAKE · RUST · SCARECROW · SPICE · SQUIRREL · SWEATER · THICKET · TWILIGHT · WOODSMOKE
Who is this theme good for?
A good choice for September to November mornings, autumn-themed clubs and anyone who wants a seasonal puzzle that is not about Halloween. Words are everyday English with no brand names.
A solving tip
Several fall words share endings — MIGRATION and MIGRATING, CORNFIELD and CORNMAZE. When you find one, check the letters nearby before you move on; the grid often places related words close together by chance.
How these puzzles work
Every puzzle is free and plays in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Drag across a word, or tap its first and last letter. Easy grids are 10×10 with words across and down; medium grids are 12×12 and add diagonals; hard grids are 15×15 with words in all eight directions. Press Large print above any grid for bigger letters. Progress is saved on your device, and there is never a timer. New to word searches? Read how to play.
